Visitor Counting Measurement
Objective
To provide accurate and reliable data upon the total number of visitors to the centre during specific nominated time segments; and if required, the total number of shoppers visiting different specified locations throughout the centre itself. The fundamental aim is to provide precise visitor data and can also be used to validate or calibrate available electronically established figures.
Coverage
All shoppers will be counted, apart from children under the age of ten. Time periods can be organised as necessary, for example throughout the whole of a particular week, or on specific days of the week (to compare weekday/s to Saturday and Sunday) and during late-night opening. Fieldwork can be on a one off or semi-continuous basis (in order to measure seasonal differences, or changes over time).
Methodology
The data is established by means of a physical count of everyone passing by specifically selected locations during precise time segments. The data is recorded upon hand held counters, and the time segment totals are transferred to appropriate control sheets for subsequent analysis by location; for aggregation and re-modeling.
Data Presentation
Complete data for every designated time segment at every location, plus appropriate totals in the form of summary tabulations and appropriate indices.
